Kerry Gene O'Melia, age 76, of Grand Rapids, MN passed Monday, February 12, 2024, at Essentia Health-Deer River Hospital, Deer River, MN.

Kerry was born in 1947 to William and Kathleen O'Melia in Grand Rapids. He attended Grand Rapids area schools and graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1965. After high school, Kerry worked a variety of jobs, including the pipeline, the mines, for Hammerlund, and Lakehead construction.

Kerry was united in marriage on June 5, 2002, to Janice, and the two enjoyed many outdoor activities. Loving known as "the grumpy old bear" by his family, he spent time fishing, duck, goose and deer hunting, even teaching Jan how to deer hunt, despite him being allergic to deer, and how to ice fish.

Kerry is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Christine. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jan; children, Mark (Laurie) O'Melia, Suzette (Michael) Hopkins, Tony Kline, Nathan Kline (Misty Kujala); sister, Bobbi (Earl) Burnson; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Per Kerry's request, no services will be held.
