Kevin
Anderson
d. Nov 12, 2024
Kevin Louis Anderson, age 67 of rural Grand Rapids, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.
Kevin was born November 20, 1956, the son of Carl and Laverne Anderson in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. When Kevin was a child, he and his family moved from their home in Blaine, Minnesota to Braham, Minnesota. In Braham, he met Kathaleen Clark whose family had also moved to Braham from Blaine. They became great friends and eventually high school sweethearts. Kevin was known for his athleticism, particularly football, basketball, and baseball, where he earned All-Conference Honors. Kevin graduated with the Class of 1975 from Braham High School.
On February 27, 1982, Kevin was united in marriage to Kathaleen. They made their home in Braham where they raised their two sons. In 1992, Kevin and Kathy made the decision to move to the peaceful shores of Splithand Lake, near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Their entire family enjoyed living up in Northern Minnesota where fishing was a favorite pastime.
Kevin found fulfillment in his work in machine tooling, displaying dedication and skill at Blue Water Yacht in Mora and Wide Open Company in Grand Rapids, retiring in 2018. Kevin found joy in his hobbies, which included vegetable gardening, foraging mushrooms, and collecting and tapping maple syrup. His love for the outdoors brought him closer to nature, a place where he found solace and peace. Kevin's greatest joy was fishing with his family. As often as possible he would affirm his status as the legend of Splithand Lake with his talent and his excitement for being on the water with those he loved.
Kevin will be deeply missed by his two sons: Nathan Anderson and Joshua Anderson; his parents: Carl and Laverne Anderson; sister Amy (Jess) Skala; brothers Michael Anderson, Pat (Kirsten) Anderson, Duane (Minda) Anderson, and Mark Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Kevin is preceded by in death by his loving wife Kathaleen.
Following Kevin's wishes, there will be no formal service.
