Larry Russell Hoard, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at his home.

Larry was born in 1942, to Russell and Idella Hoard in Grand Rapids, MN. He attended the local area schools and graduated from Grand Rapids High School. After high school, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army and later returned to Cohasset, MN. He worked as a carpenter at Hanna Mining Company until 1994 when he retired to focus on his dairy farm with his wife, Grace. He was never one to sit still and poured lots of love into his animals at Grace Lake Farm.

Larry was always willing to help others and was noted for his ability to build or fix anything. After his farming days were over you could often find him outdoors in his wood shop or indoors enjoying a good western book or movie always with coffee in hand. He had a love of hunting, fishing, golfing, motorcycles, gardening, and lately making jewelry out of deer antlers. Larry recently celebrated his 80th birthday on a motorcycle road trip across the country with his brother Stan. He always enjoyed a new adventure. His family and friends will miss his joking manner and sense of humor most of all.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents: Russell and Idella; wife, Grace; brother, Duane; and granddaughter, Kendra Young. He is survived by his partner of 11 years, Sharon Conley, children; Douglas Hoard, Debra (Conrad) Groshong, Julie (Mike) Hartje,    Jackie (Randy) Ulseth, Kim (Jerry) Terhaar, and Ron Hoard; siblings, Lavern (Linda) Hoard, Charlotte (Gale) Lock, Wanda (Bruce) Schear, Alton (Robin) Hoard and Stanley Hoard; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

A service is being planned for the spring of 2024.
