Laura Noy was born September 10, 1929. She died March 15, 2025.

Laura was born in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada to Dutch immigrant parents, August and Wilhelmina Reuvers Noy. The family moved to a farm in southern Minnesota when Laura was eight years old.

She graduated from Good Councel Academy in Mankato in 1947.

As a lifelong student, she earned a BA in education from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, an MA in American History at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, and a Master Specialist in Administration at Mankato State University. Laura was also an avid student of sacred scripture and the wisdom of teachers.

As a lifelong educator, Laura was a teacher, a school administrator, served as director of elementary education for the diocese of New Ulm, developed curriculum and conducted workshops on protecting agricultural land for the Governor's Council on Rural Development. Lastly, she was employed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to coordinate Project Learning Tree and the School Forest Program with teachers and students statewide.

After her retirement in 1994, she married Stan Ringold and moved to Coleraine where she enjoyed the beauty of Itasca County; the YMCA; Myles Reif Performing Arts Center; book clubs and visiting with friends and neighbors. In addition to spending summers at the Ringold cabin in Nisswa, Stan and Laura travelled the United States, Canada, and Australia to visit relatives.

She was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband, Stan, in 2019, her parents, three sisters, and a brother.

She is survived by her sister Joanne DeGrood, stepchildren Carol (David Brown), Stan (Renee), James (Jean), four step-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada and Australia.
