Lee Darwin Bird, age 68, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

Lee was born in 1954 in Grand Rapids, MN to Birney and Betty Bird. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School and married Bonnie Jeanne Bjelland on December 14, 1990, at their River Road home. Lee worked for Itasca County as Surveyor for over 20 years and later became a farmer until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATV riding, spending time with his grandchildren, going out with family and friends, and playing games. He was always busy doing something productive. Lee was known for his good sense of humor and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family was very important to him, and he was always willing to help without expecting anything in return.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Brian Wayne Bird; son-in-law, Wesley Thomas Kubat; father-in-law, Clifford Wallace Bjelland; and mother-in-law, Marge A. Bjelland. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Jeanne (Cory) Kubat, Darin (Sally) Bird, Bobby (Cathy) Bird; sisters, Betty Bee (Scott) Jeffers, Joy (Ken) Whitted; brothers, Jay "Jesse" (Dawn) Bird, Jerry (Karen) Bird, sister-in-law, Tricia Wedge (Bird); and grandchildren, Holter, Izabella, Jacob, Elizabeth, Samantha, Breanna, and Phoenix.

Per Lee's wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.
