Leland L.
Tippett
d. Jun 15, 2024
Bovey
Leland L. Tippett passed from life on this earth to eternal life on Saturday, June 15, 2024. He was 82 years old. His cancer journey ended peacefully at home with family members by his side.
Leland was born to Dennis and Madalin Tippett on April 16, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa, and was raised on a farm near Memphis, Missouri. He graduated from Memphis High School in 1960 and, later, from the University of Missouri—Columbia with a degree in Agriculture. He married Marilyn Minsker on April 21, 1962.
Leland was a life-long farmer. He also had a career with the Department of Agriculture (Soil Conservation Service and U.S. Forest Service).
After taking an early retirement, Leland and Marilyn moved to Minnesota in 1998 to be closer to their children and grandchildren, first to their farm in Wright, Minnesota, and, later, to their home on Balsam Lake in Balsam Township. As a couple, they were dedicated to a lifetime of church involvement, and they set a precedent for generous giving to many Christian ministries and mission efforts.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents and beloved grandson, Nevada Davidson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn; three children, Suzanne (David) Taplin, Mike (Karen) Tippett, and Sara Tippett; siblings, Mary Deane (Bruce) Linnemeyer (Camp Point, IL), John Tippett (Kirksville, MO), and Nancy (Denny) Hyde (Pleasant Hill, IA); grandchildren, Greg Tippett, Philip Tippett, Rachel Tippett, Zach Tippett, Hannah (Nathan) Johnson, Joshua (Whitney) Taplin, Elizabeth Taplin, and Katelyn Taplin; great-grandchildren, Eden and Oliver Johnson, and Sawyer Taplin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held for Leland on Saturday, July 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at Hometown Church, 16165 Kenwood Trail, Lakeville, MN 55044.
