Leo
Pulskamp
d. Mar 11, 2024
Grand Rapids
Leo Pulskamp, age 91, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Leo was born on May 27, 1932, to Bertha and Jacob Pulskamp on their family farm near Cummings, ND. He attended grades one through eight at a one room country school in Traill County, ND. He attended high school and junior college in Milwaukee, WI before earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. Leo then returned to North Dakota to pursue a Masters of Education degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.
Leo taught English at Gibbon, MN before moving to Grand Rapids where he taught language arts at the middle school and, later, served as a guidance counselor at Grand Rapids High School. After 32 years in the education profession, Leo retired to his 200-acre farm north of Grand Rapids where he, his wife, Roberta, and their five children took great pride in working together to develop a running and productive beef cattle operation.
Leo found great joy and satisfaction through his Catholic faith, his family, and his love of farming. He looked forward to fishing trips with family and friends. He was a faithful volunteer for the Grand Rapids Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.
Leo is survived by his wife of 62 years, Roberta; his children, Angela (Marty) Brink, Chris (Lorri) Pulskamp, Dan (Danitza) Pulskamp, Tim (Nicole) Pulskamp, and Aaron (Deb) Pulskamp; 11 grand-children and 2 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank friends, family, and caregivers for their kindness and support especially the wonderful team at St. Croix Hospice and our angel Natalie Hess.
A visitation will be held at 9 AM on Friday, March 15, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, MN with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 AM. Father Blake Rozier and Deacon Ron Guertin will officiate. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset, MN.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to St. Croix Hospice; New Beginnings Pregnancy + Family Support or ProLife Across America.
