Leonard Eugene Clark, 79, Mountain View, Ark, and Grand Rapids, Minn, formerly of Cohasset, Minn, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at The Pillars.
Leonard was born March 10, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Minn, the son of Harold B. and June A. Clark. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1962, and after attending one year at then Itasca Junior College, enlisted in the United States Navy. He served two tours in Vietnam and sang in the U.S. Navy Blue Jacket Choir. He attended Dunwoody Institute on a GI bill and studied air conditioning and refrigeration repair. In 1970, he married Valerie J. Erickson, and returned to Grand Rapids to raise their family, prior to building a home in Cohasset. After 27 years, he retired from Minnesota Power. In 2002, he and his wife moved to Mountain View, Ark. His passion for music was evident in his time spent as a singer, songwriter, musician, and inventor of homemade instruments. He also enjoyed time spent thrift shopping and looking for bargains.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother David (Carol) Clark.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lisa Sucher, Mt. Orab, Oh, Kristina (Karl) Gaalaas, Grand Rapids, Minn., Stephanie Clark (Scott Weamer), Bozeman, Mont., three sisters, Lucille Olson, Carson City, Nev., Leona Stockwell, Blaine, Minn., and Donna Ramnarine, Grand Rapids, Minn., four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dear friend Linda Karnes.
A Visitation for Leonard will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids and will continue on Monday, November 27, 2023 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, MN from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM. Funeral Service. Rev. Patrick Lovejoy will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids.
