Leota Louise Oberg, age 78, of Cohasset, MN passed away Friday, May 22, 2026, at Autumn Lane Assisted Living, Cohasset, MN.

Leota was born in 1947 to Emil and Leota Jewett in Grand Rapids, MN.  She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1965.  Leota was united in marriage to Richard Oberg on October 9, 1965.  She was employed with Independent School District 317 & 318 as a paraprofessional.  Leota was a life-long sewer, quilter, and artist.  As a member of various quilting associations, her talent was widespread and well known.  If there was any free time in her day between being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she could be found downstairs in her beloved "sewing room".  Whether she was sewing American Girl doll clothes for her granddaughter, knitting snowmobile glove liners for her grandson, quilting table runners for her daughter-in-law or repairing her son and husband's work clothes, Leota wove her love into every project she touched.  Anyone who has a piece from her, knows just what a gift it is.  She took pride in her calligraphy and ability to draw.  She spent many hours teaching her grandkids how to draw and paint to ensure the trade will be preserved.  Her art has a way of bringing everyone around her together because it is a perfect reflection of her – unique, talented, warmth and love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Leota Jewett; and two sisters, Carol Comstock and Janet Johnson.

Leota is survived by her husband, Richard; one son, Rob (Brenda) Oberg; two sisters, Diana Lessard and Anita Madden; two brothers, Emil (Shari) Jewett and Ed (Gloria) Jewett; two grandchildren, Alli Oberg and Kevin (Mickenzy) Oberg; two great grandchildren, Henry and Oliver Oberg; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN.  A graveside service will follow on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Wildwood Cemetery, Cohasset, MN.
