Linda Louise Karnes, 75, passed peacefully December 16, 2025, in the comfort of her home with family.

Born on October 22, 1950, to Lloyd and Anne Gauthier, Linda was a lifelong resident of the Grand Rapids community.  From her childhood days at the family-owned Pla-Mor Roller Rink to her later years as a friendly grocery store cashier, she was known for her warm connections with others.

Linda met her diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer in early 2024, with unwavering courage and faith. Throughout her life, whether raising her family in Cohasset, sewing and mending with love, or thrifting for treasures in retirement, she met every challenge with tenacity and gratitude. Always counting her blessings, she found joy in simple things, and was a dedicated volunteer for many causes throughout the years.  She will be remembered for her loyalty, her deep faith, and her cheerful spirit.

She is preceded in death by her parents; former spouse and friend, Russell Karnes; and dear friends, Susan Blanchard and Leonard Clark. She is survived by her children; Tammy (Shawn) Johnson and Shawn (Jeanita) Karnes; three brothers, Duane (Bonnie Pederson) Gauthier, Doug (Mary) Gauthier, Ron (Margo) Gauthier; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Dana) Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Rosa Johnson, Andrew (Livia) Karnes, and Eli Karnes.

A special thanks to Patty Carlin-Janssen for the many years of attentive medical care, the Grand Itasca Infusion Clinic nurses who provided true compassion along with their expert care, and St. Croix Hospice for the tender comfort provided to her and her family in her final journey.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am December 29, 2025, at Grand Rapids Alliance Church with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 am. Pastor Erik Kling will officiate.  A luncheon will be provided by her fellow devoted church ladies, after the service.
