Obituary

Loren L. Voehl, age 91, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at his residence with his son by his side.

Loren was born to Leonard and Alvina Voehl in 1933 in Lakefield, MN. He grew up in the Lakefield area and attended local schools. Loren met Ardith Kuehl at a high school dance and the pair started dating. After he graduated high school, Loren enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he served for two years during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, Loren returned home, and married Ardith on August 12, 1956, after she had waited patiently for his return.  Using his GI Bill provided by the Army, he obtained his master's degree in education from Drake College/University in three and a half years.

Most of Loren's adult life was lived in Nashwauk, MN, where he taught high school. Known as "Mr. Voehl" he was a dedicated teacher who touched many lives. He took great pleasure in hearing former students calling out "Mr. Vohel" to him. After his retirement in 1995, Loren and Ardith moved to Grand Rapids.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Minnesota Vikings, the Timberwolves, and getting up and telling jokes at the local VFW. Loren was quick with a smile, was deeply loved by many, and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Janice Cuperus. Loren is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ardith; sons, Gerry Voehl, and Lee L. Voehl.

A celebration of Loren's life will be held at Rowe Funeral Home on June 21, 2025 beginning at noon with Military Honors and continuing until 2:00 PM.
