Obituary

Lorraine Janet (Guith) Johnson, age 92, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Grand Village in Grand Rapids, MN.

Lorrie was born in 1931 to Oliver and Elizabeth Thorstad in Duluth, MN. She attended school in Morgan Park and moved to California briefly before moving back to Duluth where she met Robert Guith at a roller rink. They later married on December 30, 1961. In 1963 they moved to Grand Rapids where she worked as a teacher's aide and volunteer.  On June 6, 2009, she married Edward Johnson.

Family was very important to her, and she loved spending time with her family, children, and grandchildren. She loved arts and crafts, sewing, selling Avon, cooking, singing with the Sweet Adelines, cribbage, bowling, and volunteering for meals on wheels and Nightingale.

Lorrie is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Guith, and Edward Johnson; infant sister, Roberta; brothers, Richard, William, Michael, and Daniel Thorstad; grandson, Shawn Killeaney; and great-grandson, Logan Klennert.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Tim) Larson, Kathi (Charles) Tolo, Ken (Karen) Guith, Barry Guith, Jim (Tara Johnson) Guith, and Jeff (Jilleen) Guith; brothers, Timothy (Nancy) Thorstad, and David (Toni) Thorstad; grandchildren, Jen Guith, Linsee (Bill) Haynes, Benjamin (Brianna) Klennert, Marcus (Jillian Birkholz) Guith, Madilyn (Ethan) Mortensen, Nathan (Thomas Marcroft) MacDowell, Ryan MacDowell, Marijah Harney-Tolo, Trevor (Destiny Young) Killeaney, Micayla (Gunnar Hodnefield) Lessard, and Spencer Lessard; and great-grandchildren, Breann Benes, Alyssa Benes, Kali Benes, McKenlynn Haynes, Jensen Klennert, Kane Goff, Kaden Haynes, and Kade Haynes.

A visitation will be at 10 AM on Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Father Blake Rozier will be officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Duluth, MN at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff of Grand Village and Moments Hospice for the exceptional care they gave.
