Lorraine Margaret (Hill) Zupancich, age 87, of Chisholm passed away peacefully on Sunday June 21st at Oak Hill Assisted Living in Grand Rapids, MN.
Lorraine was born on July 10th, 1938 to Wayne and Alice Hill. She was a 1956 graduate of Chisholm High School and was a lifelong Chisholm resident. On January 2nd, 1960 at the Grace Lutheran Church, Lorraine was married to Louis Zupancich in a candlelight service. Lorraine retired in 2003 from Hibbing Taconite, where she was one of their earliest employees, proudly working as a general laborer. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds and battling the squirrels.
Lorraine loved nothing more than lavishing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love, advice, gifts and making memories on family vacations in Cancun and at the cabin on Lake of the Woods. Her grandkids and great grandkids were a source of pride and brought her immeasurable joy.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Lou, her son Randy and her brother Richard "Dickie" Hill.
Survivors include her daughter Christy (Mark) Gustafson, Grand Rapids, MN; grandchildren Zachary (Heidi) Zupancich, Coon Rapids, MN, Adam Zupancich, Fridley, MN, Melanie (Gage Fisher) Zupancich, Isanti, MN, Tyler (Bailey) Gustafson, Victoria, MN, and Ande (David Palan) Gustafson, Grand Rapids, MN; great-grandchildren Ariana, Natalie and Morgan Zupancich and William and Victoria Zupancich and Lily Fisher. Sister Shirley (Michael) Biendara, St. Cloud, MN; many loving nieces and nephews, and special neighbors Beannie and Richie Bussey.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Oak Hill Assisted Living for the love, care and dignity provided to Lorraine at the end of her long, well-lived life.
Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 29th at the Grand Rapids Alliance Church. Visitation at 10:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM with a luncheon afterwards. Private family inurnment at Calvary Cemetery, Chisholm at a later date.
