Magdalena "Elaine" Vanina , age 74, passed away February 21, 2023 at home in Grand Rapids, MN.

She was born to John and Magdalena Rugel in 1948 in Schwabmunchen, Germany. She graduated from Brentwood high school in Long Island in 1966. Elaine married John Vanina on March 10, 1968. They moved to Grand Rapids, MN in 1973 where she lived until she passed. She was involved with providing a smile to everyone she met. Her family was her world, especially her loving husband. Wherever John was, Elaine was always by his side. She loved and cared for everyone, but her husband and family were her number one priority.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Magdalena; brothers, Mike and John Rugel; sisters, Anna Holst, Gertrude Alder, and Lisa Hessen. She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Mark, Eric (Jo), and Scott (Michelle) Vanina; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
