Margaret A. Shoquist, age 70, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at her home.

Margaret Ann was born July 10, 1953, in International Falls, Minnesota to Ronald and Patricia (Walker) Sweney. "Maggie", as she was affectionately known, grew up in International Falls, and graduated with the Class of 1971 from Falls High School.  Maggie lived for a short time in St. Cloud, Minnesota before enlisting in the United States Army.  Following her tour of duty and honorable discharge, Maggie returned home to Minnesota.  She resided in Duluth until 2011 when she moved to Grand Rapids.

Maggie had a big heart and loved helping people.  She had a very strong faith and lived that out through her food ministry helping friends and strangers alike.  She was a devoted member of the Triumphant Life Church in Bovey.

She is survived by her siblings, Mike (Karla) Sweney of West Duluth, Bob (Linda) Sweney of Sartell, Nancy (Dick) Schroeder of Cohasset, and David (Angela) Sweney of Frankfurt, Germany. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Sheri; sister, Beverly Sweney.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 PM. Pastor Todd Block will officiate.  Interment will be August 3, 2024 at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN. Memorials in Maggie's memory may be directed to Grace House of Itasca County (gracehousemn.org), Salvation Army of Grand Rapids, or donor's choice.
