Marianne Wittman Nyhous, age 98, of Grand Rapids, MN died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at her home at River Grand Assisted Living.

Marianne was born in 1925 to Frank and Mary Svoboda in St. Paul, MN where she grew up and attended school. She attended the University of Minnesota and Ancker Hospital in St. Paul for nursing training. Marianne married Earl Wittman on June 1, 1946 in St. Paul and moved to Grand Rapids in 1950. She worked as an RN at Itasca Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1984. After Earl's passing in November 1988, Marianne married Maurice Nyhous on June 15, 1996 in Grand Rapids where they made their home.

Marianne was a lifelong member of the Community Presbyterian Church, the Women of the Moose, and the MN Nurses Association. She volunteered with the American Red Cross, local Food Shelf, and the RSVP Program and remained active in the University of Minnesota Home Extension for over 20 years.

Marianne is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Earl Wittman; second husband, Maurice Nyhous; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Virginia Svoboda; daughter-in-law, Missy Wittman; son-in-law, Mike Packard; and nephew, Frank Svoboda Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Packard, Bev (Jim) Jones, Judy (John) Bryan, all of Grand Rapids; sons, Greg (Tracy) Wittman of Rosemont, MN, Steven Wittman, David Wittman, both of Grand Rapids; and three grandchildren, Christy (Todd Major) Sutherland, Katie (Dalton) Lindau, Bradley (Annie) Wittman.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, followed by the 11:00 AM funeral service. Pastor Jason Schiller will officiate. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
