Marilyn Jean (Olson) Elich, 86, passed peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Marilyn was born on July 1, 1940, in Hibbing, Minnesota, to Albert and Elaine Olson. She graduated from Hibbing High School with the Class of 1958.

Marilyn met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Elich of Marble, Minnesota. They were united in marriage on October 19, 1963, in Chisholm, Minnesota, and shared more than 62 years together. Throughout the years, Marilyn and Bob enjoyed traveling and making many wonderful memories together.

Marilyn dedicated her career to serving as a paraprofessional with the Grand Rapids School District 318. She truly loved working with children and found great joy in helping them learn and grow. Her patience, kindness, and caring nature made a lasting impact on the many students whose lives she touched.

Known for her warm and outgoing personality, Marilyn never met a stranger. She was friendly, talkative, and always enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and neighbors. She loved quilting and was an active member of the Loon Quilters, where she enjoyed sharing her creativity and friendship with others.

Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; her sons, Tim and Tom; her grandson, Mason; and her sisters, Susan and Pam. She is also survived by extended family members and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.

Marilyn will be remembered for her kind heart, her gift for conversation, her love of children, her passion for quilting, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private service with immediate family will be held to honor the life of Marilyn.
