Marion Mae (Schendel) Wigand walked into the arms of Jesus on April 6, 2026. Marion was born May 23, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN to Gilbert and Irene Schendel. She grew up in Minneapolis, Robbinsdale, and Mound.

Marion was baptized in June of 1930 in Minneapolis; she was confirmed in April of 1943 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale and she graduated from Mound High School in 1948. After high school she worked for Minneapolis Moline.

In May of 1951 Marion married Allen Wigand at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mound Minnesota. They had 5 children. During their marriage they lived in Mayer, New Germany, Waconia and in 1968 they moved to Cohasset.

Most of Marion's life was spent taking care of her children and working alongside Allen on their dairy farms. She also did some bookkeeping jobs and worked as a Home Health Aide for Itasca County and for Itasca County Hospice. She retired from Itasca County in 1995, after which she worked as a private care Home Health Aide and served as a respite volunteer for the local Hospice program.

Marion was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cohasset where she served as their first Sunday School Superintendent. She served the church as a Release Time, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also an active part of the ladies group, and quilting circle at the church. Over the years, Marion served on the Iron Range LWML and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church boards, holding various positions.

Marion belonged to the Cohasset 500 Club, "Kountry Klatters" (her neighborhood home extension group), and The Red Hat Society. She loved serving others, baking, quilting, sewing, embroidery, playing cards, and preserving the fruits and vegetables grown in their large gardens.

Marion is preceded in death by her husband, Allen; infant son, Gordon; daughter, Lois; parents, Gilbert and Irene Schendel; sister, Lorraine Thaemert; five sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, mother and father-in-law, Elsie & Herman Wigand, and one bonus grandson.

Marion is survived by her children, Eugene (Alice) Wigand, Carolyn Kennedy, and Jodi (Dana) Martin; sister, Lillian Kent; brother, Gerald Schendel; 10 grandchildren (and spouses); 20 great-grandchildren; many bonus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be Monday, April 20, 2026, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cohasset, with visitation 2 hours prior to the 1:00pm service. Reverend William C. Zeige will be officiating. Committal will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset.

The family wishes to thank St. Croix Hospice for the exceptional care of their mother for the past 3 plus years. Especially to Abby and Breeze for their loving care in her final days.
