Michael Harris Cochran, 80, of Grand Rapids, MN, died on June 17, 2026, at Grand Itasca Hospital after a short illness.

Michael was born on March 4, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Stafford and Rose Cochran. The family moved to Grand Rapids shortly afterwards and he spent the majority of his life here. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1964 and attended NDSU for 2 years. Michael served his country in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. His service reflected his courage, commitment, and sense of duty, qualities that remained evident throughout his life. He retired from Blandin in 2008 after many years of hard work.

Michael is survived by his children, Michael (Prasad) Mathekar-Cochran of Dayton, MN and Nicholas Cochran of Boxholm, IA, and grandchildren, Levi, Claire, and Zadoc. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Penelope "Penny" Winsor, and special friend, Lois Merchant.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting his hunting camp and cabin in Canada. He loved being in nature and spending time with his friends.

Michael will be missed by his sons, grandchildren, friends, and cabin members.

Per Michael's request, there will be no funeral services or celebration of life.
