Michael Warren Thompson, (Mike) 68, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at his home in Grand Rapids with his loving wife by his side.

A native of Grand Rapids, MN, Mike was born on August 12, 1956, to his parents, Wes and Margaret Thompson.   After graduating from Grand Rapids High School in 1974, Mike attended Hibbing Vocational School and graduated in the electrical field.  He then began work at US Steel in Keewatin as an electrician.  On May 2, 1981, he joined in matrimony with his beloved Linda Smith (Liddy) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids.

Together, Mike and Liddy embarked on the journey of entrepreneurship, establishing and managing Current Electric for over three decades.  Since 1983 in their community of Wendigo near Grand Rapids, they shaped a legacy of commitment and excellence.

A man of many interests and joys, Mike dedicated his leisure time to organizing golf events, participating in outdoor pursuits like fishing crappies, boating, motorcycling, SxS riding, snowmobiling, and cherishing moments with family and friends.  His passion for golf extended beyond the course as he and Liddy organized couple's events for three years at Wendigo Golf Course and eleven years at Pokegama Golf Course.  Over the course of years, Mike and Liddy traveled many a mile on their motorcycle making friends along the way.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Linda (Liddy) Thompson, Grand Rapids, his sisters: Brenda, (Malcom) Nelson, Florida, and Sue (Jeffri) Schrunk, Grand Rapids; Aunt Beverly," Pat" Harvey, Arizona; mother-in-law Donna Smith; brothers-in-law: Mike Smith, Tim (Shirley) Smith, and David (Linda) Johnson; sister-in-law Laurie Smith (Russ) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his beloved parents, Wes and Margaret Thompson; father-in-law Russ Smith; sister-in-law Barb Johnson; brother-in-law Gary Smith.

Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Moose Lodge, 330 NE 10th Ave., Grand Rapids, MN 55744.
