Michele (Shelly) Marie Gibbons was born in Grand Rapids, MN on May 31st, 1961 to Peter and Mary Jo (Gagnon) Gibbons. She died on June 10 at the age of 62.

She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1980 and worked at the Occupational Development Center (ODC) in Grand Rapids for 40 years. She participated in swimming, floor hockey, and track and field in Special Olympics. She enjoyed being with her cats, doing crafts, and watching TV.   She was clever, independent, and had a great sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Jo Gibbons and brother-in-law Steve Thorpe.

She is survived by her brothers, Mike Gibbons of Duluth and Tom (Cami) Gibbons of Duluth; her sister, Renée Gibbons of Cohasset; her niece, Claire Gibbons of Seattle, WA and nephew, Philip Gibbons, of Bellingham, WA.

Special thank you to the staff at 5th Ave House for the loving care they have given to Shelly during the past 5 years. Thank you also to St. Croix Hospice for the support they have given during the past 6 months.

Visitation will be at 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 15 at Rowe Funeral Home with burial following at Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset.
