Mildred Ann Matheson, 91, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at Grand Village in Grand Rapids, MN.

Mildred was born in 1934 to August and Mayme Ahola in Poplar, WI. She attended school in Wentworth, Poplar and Maple, WI. She was united into marriage to James Matheson on March 12, 1955 in Poplar, WI. Mildred was employed with Duluth Clinic before moving to Cohasset in 1957. She was then employed with experiment station as a senior clerk. Mildred was also employed with Deer River Hospital and Nursing Home as a secretary. Mildred enjoyed reading, playing cards and camping.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and sister, Janice Allen.

Mildred is survived by her children, Deborah (James) Unger, Sharon (Richard) Wittner, and James (Marie) Matheson; sisters, Janie Ahola, Lila (Richard) Ronn, and Marcia (John) Chess; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren with one more in the spring.

A family graveside service is scheduled for August 2026.
