Obituary for Miriam E. Metzger

Our beloved Mother and friend went to her heavenly home Monday June 22, 2026.

Miriam E, Metzger known to most as Mary, was born in Sauk Rapids Minnesota on October 14, 1924, to Alvah and Anna Seeber.  Her life reflected her Christian faith.  Mary found joy in guiding young minds.  She was a first-grade teacher for several decades at Riverview and Southwest schools.  Solomon Ortiz said, "education is the key to success in life and teachers make a lasting impact on the lives of their students."  This was evident by the many cards, letters, calls and visits she received throughout the years.  Mary was a blessing and her memory a treasure to all who knew her.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, beloved husband Lloyd and her son John.  She is survived by her daughters Mary, Ellen and Carol, her daughter-in-law DJ, grandchildren Trevor, Alison and Craig, nieces, nephews and their families.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Andrew's Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, Minnesota with the Reverand Mary A. Metzger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Itasca Essentia Hospice, the Community Café or your local food pantry.
