Obituary

Nancy E. Hannah, age 80, of Grand Rapids, MN died December 16, 2024 in Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

Nancy Eileen Hannah was born February 2, 1944 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Eileen Rose (Godfrey) and Freeman Christian Hane.   She grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated with the Grand Rapids High School Class of 1962.  Soon after high school, Nancy was married to Ronald Hannah and later became the proud mother of two sons, Brian and Keith.

Nancy can be remembered for her sharp wit, love of laughter, straight-shooting honesty, and her culinary gift. An incredible cook whose love-language was definitely "food," she wholeheartedly believed "the bigger the crowd, the better" and was in her glory whether she was cooking for harvest dinners at church or for large family events.

In her later years, she embarked on a new adventure spending several seasons working in Antarctica at the McMurdo Station – a unique opportunity she truly enjoyed.

In years past, she enjoyed bowling in the Midway Bowling League and playing BINGO at a rotation of local venues.  After her divorce, Nancy had a long-lasting relationship with Mark Holm.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.   After an occasional trip to the casino, she was always proud to bring home her earnings - a container of nickels from playing the nickel slots!

Nancy is preceded in death by her long-time partner, Mark Holm.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Brian and his wife, Lori Hannah of Crystal, Minnesota and Keith Hannah and his husband, Terry Jones of Edgewood, Washington; three grandchildren, Teresa Hannah, Jeffery Hannah, and Jennifer Campbell; six great grandchildren; and her forever friend, Janice LaPlant.

Following Nancy's wishes, there will not be a memorial service or a celebration of life.
