Patrick J. Selmser, age 73, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home.

Patrick "Pat" was born February 22, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to James and Thelma (Reader) Selmser.  Pat attended Grand Rapids Schools.  He played high school hockey for the Grand Rapids Indians and graduated with the Class of 1970.  He then began a long career with Blandin Paper Company.  Pat was united in marriage to Pamela Jean LaPlant on December 8, 1972.  Pat and Pam raised their family and resided in Grand Rapids their entire married life.  In 2002 Pat retired from Blandin Paper after 27 years of service. Over the years Pat also worked as a professional fishing guide, beginning in 1989. He enjoyed his time with his clients, especially ones that returned year after year.

Pat was an avid outdoorsman, especially being in the woods hunting deer with his son Brian and son-in-law Matt. He was extremely passionate about deer hunting and was very successful over the many years he was able to hunt. He also enjoyed his hobby of raising champion labs for field trials.  Pat will forever be remembered for his unique sense of humor, joking and visiting with family and friends, and love for the game of hockey.

Pat was a devoted member of the Northland Bible Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, MN. He loved the congregation but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pat is survived by his loving wife, Pam; daughters, Stephanie Jean (Matt) O'Rourke, Kelly Jo Bultinck; son, Brian Patrick Selmser; sister, Lynn Ann Wilson; brother, Michael James Selmser; four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Yates Selmser and Thelma Rosemary Selmser; brother, Timothy William Selmser.

A visitation will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Northland Bible Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, MN with a funeral service to follow at 11 AM.  Pastor Tim Graff will officiate. Interment will follow at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
