Patricia
Vogt
d. Mar 9, 2024
Grand Rapids
Patricia A. Vogt, age 78, December 14, 1945 - March 9, 2024, of Grand Village of Grand Rapids and formerly of Catholic Eldercare of Northeast Minneapolis. Patricia was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Rose and Sheldon, the second of four children. She was a proud 1964 graduate of St. Anthony of Padua High School of Northeast Minneapolis. Patricia had fond childhood memories of sweeping the home economics classroom after school to help with the cost of school tuition and of the threadbare blue jumpers and blue oxfords commonly known as Happy Hikers. At a young age, she volunteered for the Sisters of the Poor and worked at the Sun Drive-In on Central Avenue as a car-hop. After high school, Patricia worked as a Dictaphone Operator for Foley Manufacturing, married, and had two daughters; Ruth and Rebecca. Patricia suffered a stroke at a young age requiring her to spend most of her adult life in a skilled nursing facility. Despite the medical challenges she faced, Patricia relied on her faith to see what God had planned for her.
Patricia found a love for bingo, Dean Martin, animals, baking, enriching resident activities, and spending time with her friends, family, and her grandchildren who brought her the most happiness. She was a strong woman full of joy and kindness for others. It was her selfless attitude and faith-filled heart that gave her life perspective and allowed her to be devoted to spreading joy everywhere. No one was ever forgotten, she made sure of this.
Patricia's family would like to thank her friends and staff, who became family, at Grand Village, Catholic Eldercare, and St. Croix Hospice for the love and care she received.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Rose and Sheldon. Survived by her daughters Ruth and Rebecca (Jeffrey); grandchildren, Samuel, Ellie, Josephine, and Garrett; brother Eugene (Ritzi); sisters Barbara (James) and Margaret (Gene); and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held for Patricia's family on March 15, 2024. A celebration of life for Patricia will be held at Grand Village in Grand Rapids, on March 16th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. for family and friends.
