Phyllis E. Gornowich , age 91, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 7, 2023.  Phyllis was born in 1932 in Crookston, MN and grew up in nearby Fisher, MN and Grand Forks, ND.

She married Donald J. Gornowich on January 28, 1955.

Phyllis was very proud of her nursing credentials (RN, NP) and performed various nursing roles in North Dakota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

She was the true definition of a care giver to family and friends or anyone in need.

She loved her cabin time at the lake and was thrilled to retire there in 1993.

Phyllis remained very active by traveling, flower gardening and frequented the Y pool for swimming and water aerobics.

Her travel highlight was a trip with Don to Denmark, Sweden, and the favorite being Norway.

She is survived by her husband Donald, daughters Sue (Randy) Henriksen, Terri, grandchild Bergen (Anna), great-grandchild Laila and many extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ellen and Leonard Berg, brothers Leonard Jr. and Delano, and sister Beatrice Johnson.

Phyllis's wishes will be honored with a memorial ceremony at Zion Lutheran Church Columbarium on a later date.

Memorial donations are preferred to Itasca County Family YMCA or Second Harvest Food Bank.
