Obituary

Richard E. " Dick" Black  of Potwin, KS passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024 after a short battle with old age. He was 83.

Somewhere around 1960, Dick was a camp counselor at the Bluewater Bible Camp on the Wabana Chain of Lakes. Several years later, he began vacationing with family and friends to Wabana, often twice a year, in search of solitude and smallmouths. On May 10th, Dick and his wife, Cindy, moved into his son's house on Wabana for one last adventure. He found solitude, caught a smallmouth, and died peacefully in a room overlooking the lake.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; his son, Charlie; his daughter, Christy and numerous grandchildren who will all continue to visit the lake where Dick's spirit will continue to inspire perfect casts and lure selections.

Though he was never officially a resident of Grand Rapids, it was where he wanted to be in the end. The family wishes to thank Project Care, Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital and St Croix Hospice for their wonderful care of a local "stranger".

Support for Project Care of Grand Rapids and Bluewater Covenant Bible Camp is encouraged.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held in Potwin, KS at a later date.

Arrangements are with the Rowe Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Grand Rapids, MN. To sign the online guestbook or send condolences visit www.rowefuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
