Richard "Rick" Thomas Johnson, of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

Richard served in the Army and received an honorable discharge. He worked for Itasca County for over 30 years before retiring due to a disability. Despite his disability, Richard remained an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Johnson, and Joyce Johnson; stepmother, Betty Johnson; grandson, Michael Bixby; and stepbrother, Ray Boggess.

He is survived by Michelle Johnson; children, Shon (Sarah) Johnson, Michael Johnson, Carmen Bixby; stepchildren, Cody Kasper, and Tyler (Arielle) Kasper; brother, Jack (Kathy) Hankey; sisters, Cathy (Jim) Josephson, Jill (Donny) Davey, Lynn (David) Hart, and Dori (Tim) McFarland; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Razzy.

Per Richard's request, there will be no services. Burial will be at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
