Robert Wilson Rasner, Sr., aged 83, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the St. Benedictine Living Community in Duluth, MN.

Born on February 25, 1941, in Marshall, IL, Robert was the beloved son of Wilson and Mary (Ward) Rasner. Growing up in Marshall and later relocating to Logansport, IN, he crossed paths with his soulmate, Rebecca Boller. Their union was sealed on June 9, 1961, in Logansport, and together, they embarked on a journey marked by love, commitment, and adventure.

Robert's life took on various hues as he served his country in the Army during the 1960s, stationed in the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska. Alongside Rebecca, they built a beautiful family, embracing three children through adoption and fostering. In 1969, the Rasner's returned to Logansport, expanding their family with two more beloved children, one through adoption and another through birth.

In pursuit of new horizons, the Rasner family settled in Deer River, MN, in 1975, where Robert began his dedicated career at Blandin Paper Mill, spanning over 27 years until his well-deserved retirement. Relocating to Cohasset, MN, in 1983, and later to Grand Rapids in 1988, Robert's unwavering love and support for his family remained the foundation of his life.

Following the loss of his beloved Rebecca on March 7, 1994, Robert found love and companionship once again in Karen (Seguin) Anderson, whom he married in 1998. They made their home in Duluth, MN, where they resided until his passing.

Robert's gentle spirit and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. His passions for gardening, fishing, studying the Bible, and journaling illuminated his days. Continuously engaged in weekly Bible studies, his faith remained steadfast, even during his residency at the nursing home.

Robert is survived by his wife, Karen Rasner of Duluth; daughters, Rachel Kangas (James Boller) of Cohasset, and Natasha Rasner of Duluth; sons, Harold Koenig of Hibbing, and Robert (Carolee) Rasner, Jr. of Cohasset; grandchildren: Aaron, Ashley, Jared, Tiffanie, Krista, and Rebecca; 19 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Stever Rasner of Illinois and Ken (Marilyn) Rasner of South Carolina.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca, parents, son, David Rasner, and grandson, Courtney Rasner.

Funeral Services will be 3 PM on Monday, May 20, 2022 at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids with visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial with military honors will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Cohasset.
