Scott
Mclaughlin
d. Feb 22, 2025
Wesley Scott McLaughlin, 52, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side while being cared for at Majestic Pines in Grand Rapids, MN. He battled brain cancer for 9 long, yet short months and is now free from this disease. Scott was born the son of Clyde and Gwendolyn McLaughlin and raised in Van Buren, Ohio. Upon graduation he joined his dad and began his career in pipeline construction. He spent the next 34 years working in the pipeline industry, working on projects that required him to travel all throughout the United States. He developed lifelong friendships with many of his co-workers, who also became like family. It was during his work in Wisconsin that he met Amber, the love of his life and mother of their cherished children. A man with a zest for life, Scott enjoyed golf and snowmobiling, passions he lovingly shared with his children. His move to Cohasset, MN marked a new chapter, as he and his family settled into their forever home.
He adored his children so much and always showed so much patience with them. Whether it was greeting them with gum and candy after a long day of work, giving rides on the lawnmower, lessons on the golf course, or making them breakfast, he enjoyed every moment. He was looking forward to retiring early just so he could be a full-time dad. Scott was the guy everyone liked. He was kind, patient, easy-going, and friendly to everyone he encountered. He was hard working and dedicated to his job, but his biggest devotion was to his family. Scott set the standard and lived up to what it means to put your family first. His loss is felt deeply, his smile will never be forgotten, and he will forever be remembered as an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
He is preceded in life by his grandparents Pauline Tingley, James and Virgie McLaughlin, father-in-law Sam.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Amber, children Ava(10) Easton (8) and Brynlee (6), his mother Gwen, father Wes (Betty), sister Melissa, niece Taylor, and nephew Logan, sister-in-law Erin, brother-in-law Todd, mother-in-law Donna, and many friends and coworkers.
His legacy of love and devotion will never be forgotten.
