Sean Patrick Lanning, age 53, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at his home in Grand Rapids, MN.

Sean was born in 1972 to Vincent III and Mary Lanning in Dallas, TX. He graduated from Warroad High School, participating in hockey, football, and track. He later became a football and hockey coach for Warroad. He completed his associates degree at Itasca Junior College and began work as a wildland firefighter. Sean was a very kind and gentle soul. His humor was infectious and he brought a lot of joy to everyone around him. He will be greatly missed.

Sean is preceded in death by his wife, Shonna Marie Ewens; parents, Jack and Jane Lanning; grandparents, Vincent John II and Alice Lanning; and great-uncle, Paul Lanning.

He is survived by his sister, Leslie Borges; brothers, Colin (Deborah) Lanning, and Larry (Janet) Lanning; niece, Matty Garcia; nephews, Richard Borges and Austin Nevels; great-niece, Natalia Garcia; and great-nephew, Leo Garcia.
