Sharon Kay Burt, age 84, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025 in her home.

Sharon was born June 12th, 1940 to Ted and Carlena Burt in Holyoke, CO. She graduated early from Holyoke High School and attended Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, CO. Shortly after, an unexpected job offer brought Sharon to the Grand Rapids area, which became her new home. There she began her long career as an English and science teacher at Connor Jasper Middle School in Bovey. After retiring, she continued tutoring in the area as a Foster Grandparent at Cohasset and Forest Lake Elementary Schools.

Throughout her life, Sharon was an avid volunteer, always thinking about what she could do for others. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she played in the handbell choir and supported many church services and events. Music was another one of her greatest passions.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Larry. She is survived by her godsons, James and Jeremiah Ogilvie; her goddaughter Candi; her cousins Mike, Doug, and Barry; her dear friend Nancy Salmi, and many other friends, students, and loved ones.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, MN with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM. Pastor Paul Svingen will officiate. Inurnment will immediately follow at the Zion Lutheran Church Columbarium.
