Obituary

Shirley Anderson-Frashier, age 76, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, after a long illness, at her home with her beloved husband by her side.

Shirley was born in Marshall, MN in 1949 to Melvin and Evelyn Anderson. She attended Clarkfield High School and later St. Cloud University and had been working on getting her master's degree. She remained close to her college roommates Evie, Harriet, and Marilyn through all of the years.

On September 24, 1982, she married her best friend, Grant Frashier. Shirley worked as a sales representative with Hallmark cards, and later with Howards Jewelry. After she retired from working, she spent her time as a genealogy researcher at the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm. Shirley was a board member of the Arrowhead Library System, and a founding member and past president of Country Quilters in Willmar, MN. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, spending time in her beloved yard, and golfing.

Shirley is preceded in death her parents, and sister, Cynthia Anderson. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Grant; special niece and nephew, Kristin Youngbloom and Derek Sitz.

No services are being planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to The Minnesota Discovery Center Iron Range Research Center, in Shirley's name.
