Obituary

Steven L. Talbott, age 56, died peacefully at home in Jacobson on January 23, 2026 with his wife at his side following a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Steven L. Talbott was born May 9, 1969 in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, the son of Theresa (Henke) and Lewis Talbott.  Steve grew up in Champlin, Minnesota and attended school in Anoka.  He moved into Queens Lane Apartments where he was the caretaker and maintenance man for the apartment complex.  While residing at Queens Lane Apartments, he met one of the tenants, Karen Bjork who always seemed to have repairs that required his assistance in her apartment!  Their relationship grew and Karen became Steve's wife on September 23, 1993.

Steve had several different occupations throughout his working years – everything from delivering the Minneapolis Star Tribune newspapers, commercial building cleaning, a molded plastic manufacturer to truck driving in the Twin Cities.

With Steve and Karen's love for the outdoors, they decided to move to Jacobson, Minnesota and make northern Minnesota their permanent home.  He then worked for Maki Auto Body ending his working career as auto body repair technician.

Steve was a Ford vehicle lover – especially Mustangs!  A highlight for Steve and Karen and his son, Mike was to go to the 2024 Sturgis Mustang Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota.  Each of them drove their prized Mustangs to the Rally and enjoyed entering in the car shows.  Steve took the first-place trophy and Mike took the second-place trophy in their individual category!

Steve loved tinkering on cars and doing any type of mechanical and auto body work.  He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing.  Traveling to the Golf Shores with Karen was a favorite travel adventure.  He was a lover of all animals and took good care of their family cats in their home.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Lewis Talbott and his brother, Scott Talbott. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife and best friend, Karen; his son, Mike Talbott; his mother, Theresa Talbott; sisters, Sandy Padilla and Sheri (Todd) Stock; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held later in the year at the Warba Feely Cemetery in Warba, MN.

Arrangements are with Rowe Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Grand Rapids, MN. To sign the online guestbook or send condolences visit www.rowefuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
