Steven L. Stansberry , age 56, of Swatara, MN died Friday, March 31, 2023, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, MN.

Steve was born in 1966 to Herb and Doris Stansberry in Grand Rapids, MN. He graduated from Hill City High School. Steve was a good athlete in high school, playing both full back and half back on the football team, as well as catcher and pitcher for baseball. Growing up, Steve played little league baseball in Swatara being coached by his dad, Herb. After high school, Steve worked for the City of New Hope Parks & Recs Department. He also worked security at Northern Lights Casino in Walker, MN. After that Steve traveled throughout the southeast with his sister and brother-in-law, building golf courses on the Robert Trent Jones trail.

Steve loved to hunt and fish, spending many hours at the dock in Hill City and ice fishing at McKinney Lake. He also loved dogs, once rescuing a mom and ten puppies to make sure they got a good home.

He is survived by his dad, Herbert; sister, Deborah (Robert) Shaw; aunts, uncle, many cousins; and his friend, Shawn, and Shawn's dog, Rosie.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Doris, in November 2022. They are both missed and loved beyond words by the family.
