Susan "Sue" Smith, age 75 of Grand Rapids, Minnesota died Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.

Susan Marie (Schreiber) Smith was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 25, 1950 to Lyle and Florence Schreiber. A 1968 graduate from Crestwood High School in Mantua Ohio, she attended Kent State University for elementary education. She was a teacher for 33 years and finished her career at Riverview Elementary School with the Stow-Monroe Falls school district.

She married Dennis Koneck in 1975. Two years later, they welcomed their daughter Jessica. Dennis passed away in 1988 after a 4-year battle with brain cancer. In 1990, she married Robin Smith. In 2006, they relocated to Grand Rapids, MN, to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

She enjoyed teaching the Awana Cubbies class at the Grand Rapids Alliance Church as well as leading the VBS crafts, serving on the Fellowship committee, and coordinating funeral luncheons. Grandma Sue loved spending time with her grandkids and going to the cabin on Sundays during the summer.

In addition to Dennis, she is preceded in death by grandson, Ethan Robert Johnson; parents, Lyle and Florence Schreiber; and brother, Michael.

She is survived by her husband, Robin Smith; daughter, Jessica Johnson; son-in-law, Bart Johnson; grandchildren, Emma (Brett) Skyles, Andrew, Mathew and Gavin Johnson, and sister Barbara (Con Kubilus) Bascetta.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the amazing and caring staff in the ICU at Essentia St. Mary's in Duluth.

A visitation will be held from 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the Grand Rapids Alliance Church in Grand Rapids with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 PM to honor Sue's life.
