Thomas E. Hites, age 69, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, at AmeriCare Lodge in Grand Rapids.

Tom was born in 1956 to Donald and Janice Hites in Elwood City, PA. Being a child of a military family, the family moved around to many different places. Tom had attended 9 different schools in his young life. When his father retired from his military service, the family settled in Grand Rapids, where other relatives resided.

Tom enlisted into U.S. Marines after high school. After his honorable discharge, he spent many years traveling, working various jobs and living life on his terms. He passed away much like he lived, peaceful and free. Tom was a free spirit with a gentle soul that enjoyed fishing and loved listening to music.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and beloved dog Hopper.  Tom is survived by his sister, Diane (George) Tri; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Rowe Funeral Home, on Monday, August 25, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM and lasting until the 11:00 AM funeral service. Burial with military honors will be at Itasca Calvary Cemetery. Lay Pastor Mary Shideler will officiate.
