Thomas William Hicks, 88, of Remer, MN, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at his home.

Tom was born in 1936 to Thomas and Edith Hicks in Grand Rapids, MN. He grew up in Remer where he attended and graduated from high school. After graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Navy, serving 4 years. Upon his discharge, he returned to Remer and met the love of his life, Nancy. The pair was married on November 24, 1962, and together they raised their three children.

Tom worked for Arctic Cat and owned Diversified Repairs in Remer. He then started working for Cass County, where he retired after 25 years of service.

Tom had a passion for antiques, especially clocks and classic cars. After his retirement, he started restoring classic cars. He loved traveling with his wife, Nancy, and friends attending classic car shows and entering his cars, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Aire and a 1969 Pontiac Firebird. Tom was a volunteer firefighter and was Chief for 20 years. He loved his community and friends and will be greatly missed.

Tom is preceded in death by his wife; son, Tom Jr.; parents; two sisters; many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Hicks (Galen Plath), and Jill Walden (Reyes Garcia); grandchildren, Garrett and Dane Hicks; and great grandchildren, Lily and Riley.

Per Tom's request, no services will be held at this time. Family is planning a celebration of Tom and Nancy's life in the spring of 2025 with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Remer.
