Obituary

Timothy D. Dorholt, age 65 of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Timothy Duane was born May 30, 1958, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Donald and Sheila (Whitted) Dorholt. He grew up in the Como Park area of St. Paul until the age of 10, when the family moved north to Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Tim attended Grand Rapids Schools and excelled in football and hockey. He graduated with the Class of 1977 from Grand Rapids High School. Tim went on to study Law Enforcement at Hibbing Vocational/Technical College. Tim began his career in law enforcement with the Marble Police Department. 14 years later he took a position with the Grand Rapids Police Department. Tim retired as an investigator with the department in 2010 after many years of dedicated service.

Over the years, Tim appreciated all that the great outdoors had to offer. He enjoyed his work as a local fishing guide and was an avid deer hunter. Tim had a generous heart and was known to open his doors to those in need, especially during the holidays. Tim's Christian belief led him to coordinate a Boot Program making sure that good, quality, warm boots were available to anyone less fortunate. He was instrumental in bringing Center Shot to the community, a youth archery program at churches that tied together a love for the outdoors and a life centered on God. Anyone that knew Tim, knew that he loved the Lord and had a gift for remembering Bible verses that he weaved into his prayer life.

During their years of marriage, Tim and his wife Sigri (Berg) always knew their greatest gift from God was their daughter Randi. Tim spent countless hours taking her hunting and fishing. He always said that any day that he got to spend in the woods with Randi was a day well spent. When Randi and Logan married, Tim gained a son (in-law) that joined him in his love for his daughter and for the outdoors. As much as he loved his daughter and son-in-law, being a Papa to his 4 beautiful grandchildren was truly the most magical gift from God. He would drop everything to take a Facetime call, if it meant spending time with Bryher, Berkley, Lars, and Louie.

Mourning the loss of Tim is his daughter Randi (Logan) Tatter; grandchildren Bryher Tatter, Berkley Tatter, Lars Tatter, Louis Tatter; father Donald Dorholt; sister Denise (Steve) Gooch; brothers Mark (Mary) Dorholt, and Brad Dorholt, and his close friend and companion Kim Nelson. Preceding him in death was his mother Sheila Dorholt.

A Celebration of Tim's Life will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Grand Rapids Eagles Club from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
