Verladene Stabe, age 89, of Grand Rapids, MN died Thursday, July 13, 2023, in Duluth, MN.

Verladene Mostoller was born on February 15, 1934 in Grand Rapids, MN to parents Josiah and Iola Mostoller. She lived in Warba, MN until her graduation from Grand Rapids High School. On January 1, 1959, Verladene was united in marriage to James "Bud" Stable.

Over the years Verladene worked at the Register of Deeds Office, Jerome H. Meyers Abstracting, and Huntley Abstract Company before retiring in 2002. She was an active member of Community Presbyterian Church, where she taught church school, served as a Deacon, and on various committees. Verladene also held positions as a secretary for the Camp Fire Board, Camp Fire Leader, and a Secretary for the American Cancer Society. In addition, she was a member of the Dreamers Bowling League, and actively participated in the Harris Fly Away Over 50 Club and KIWI. Verladene had a deep love for her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her husband James; daughter Kathy Black; parents Josiah and Iola Mostoller; brother James Mostoller; sister Arlene Puttonen. She is survived by her son James (Gwen) Stabe; grandchildren Chase Riordan, Cali (Jeremy) Lopez, Courtney (Logan) Parzych, Cody (Kendra) Black; Brandon Black, and Erin Black; great-granddaughter Charlee.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 9:30 AM at the Community Presbyterian Church, Grand Rapids, MN with a funeral service follow at 11:00 AM.  Reverend Jason Schiller will be officiating.  Interment will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
