Walfred "Wally" Larson, age 88, of Grand Rapids, MN died Saturday, January 20, 2024, at The Pillars of Grand Rapids.

Wally was born in 1935 to John "Sig" and Hildur Larson in Calumet, MN. He graduated from Greenway High School in 1953 and from Itasca Junior College with his Associates of Arts degree. Wally served in the United States Army National Guard and later the Airforce Reserves. Wally and Marlys Karppi were united in marriage on October 3, 1958, in Marble, MN. He was employed with National Steele for 38 years, retiring as electrical foreman. Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building cabins, especially "Wally's Folly" in Canada.

Wally is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlys; son, Jerry; son-in-law, Pete Moran; and brothers, LeRoy and Roger Larson.

He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Todd) Rollins, Kathie (Jeff Clark) Moran; daughter-in-law, Peggy Larson; brother, Clarence Larson; sister, Betty Judnitsch; sister-in-law, Ruth Burns; brother-in-law, Henry Karppi; two granddaughters, Shannon (Jesse) Wellen, Lindsey Monnens; and three great-grandchildren, Josslyn, Ivan, and Rainy Wellen.

Per Wally's request, no services will be held. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery, Blackberry, MN at a later date.
