Obituary

Wayne Joseph Herschbach, age 88, died peacefully at his home in Troutlake, MN on Monday, January 1, 2024.

Wayne worked as a milkman, garbageman, carpenter and spent 35 years at Blandin Paper Company and retired as a Machine Tender. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish with his family. He was an avid deer hunter, walleye fisherman in the summer, and enjoyed pan fishing in winter. Wayne also enjoyed using his chainsaw and cutting wood so he could cut and burn wood most of his life.

Wayne's greatest joy was playing guitar and singing. He taught most of his sons to play and sing and spent a lot of time at family gatherings doing just that. Up until Covid, he spent time in a country band called the "Country Legends" of which he played with his friends at tractor shows, nursing homes, and family gatherings. He never missed an open-mic night in the area. Wayne simply loved playing guitar and singing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Valerie; and son, Steve. He is survived by brothers, Roger, and Butch; sons, Tim (Carrie), Dave, Joe, and John (Heidi); grandchildren, Steve, Rebecca, Chris, Teresa, Tony, Andy, Jeffrey, and Michael; and many great-grandchildren. Wayne will be dearly missed!

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 2:00-5:00PM at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN. Burial at Hazelwood Cemetery, Blackberry, MN will be in spring 2024.
