Obituary

Yvonne E. Parker, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026. She was born on July 22, 1936, at her family home in Reynolds Township near Long Prairie, Minnesota, to Kathryn "Katie" (Laumeyer) and Henry "Dick" Joarnt. She was one of eight children and grew up on the family farm, where she developed the creativity, work ethic, and love of nature that would remain with her throughout her life.

On April 30, 1962, Yvonne married Clayton A. Parker. Together they built a loving home and raised four sons. In her early adult years, Yvonne worked as a librarian, a fitting profession for someone whose love of books never faded. She was endlessly creative and found joy in making beautiful things with her hands. An accomplished artist and craftswoman, she painted, turned wood on a lathe, carved, sewed, created intricate mosaics on cigar boxes, wove birchbark baskets, preserved dried flowers and leaves, and explored countless other artistic pursuits. She was especially known for her exceptional quilting and lovingly made and gifted countless quilts that will continue to warm the homes and hearts of family and friends for generations.

After raising her family, Yvonne generously shared her time by volunteering at the Coleraine Library, Special Olympics, and Breaktime Craft Studio. She treasured spending time with friends, especially enjoying outings with her dear friend, Robyn Lillo.

Yvonne will be deeply missed by her sons, George Parker, Matthew Parker, and Andrew (Cheri) Parker; her grandchildren, Katelin Parker (Jacob Parsons) and Clara Parker (Marija Jozic); her great-grandsons, Joseph and Ray; her brother, Richard Joarnt; her sister, Beverly Motzko; her dear friend, Robyn Lillo; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Parker; her son, Anthony "Tony" Parker; her parents, Kathryn and Henry Joarnt; her sisters, Betty and Dubbs; and her brothers, Gene, Roger, and Marvin.

An informal celebration of Yvonne's life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. A private family interment will be held at a later date at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery.

Yvonne's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at River Grand Assisted Living Facility and St. Croix Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided.
